Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actress, dancer and singer. One of her first Broadway performances include Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. The Tony Award was given to her for the role of Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh, Tony Award-winning actress and director, has spent the majority of her career working alongside well-known directors and actors on stage and screen. Ashford is set to next appear alongside Kumail in Robert Siegel's Hulu-exclusive program Welcome to Chippendales which premieres the 22nd of November. Ashford is engaged in the production of Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust that stars Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. The film is scheduled to air on Disney DTC as a Hulu Original. Ashford will return in 2023 and will play opposite Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in the revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will direct the production. Ashford was Paula Jones, the main character in Ryan Murphy's new FX series American Crime Story Impeachment. The show is based on the impeachment crisis that swept Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp and other principal characters into the first ever impeachment proceeding in America in over a century. She was also the lead in two seasons on CBS Comedy B Positive. Created by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre the show also starred famous actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No new to Broadway Ashford was awarded the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her portrayal of Essie In You Can't Take It with You. Some other Broadway performances for Ashford include Sunday in the Park, with George Wicked legally Blonde, and her role as Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this performance she received an Tony Award nomination. Ashford was raised and born in Denver and is now dividing her time between Los Angeles, and New York.
